- Assistant Accountant

Job Profile: Assistant Accountant 

Reports to: Finance Manager

 Role Overview: To be responsible to the day to day transactional activities of the accounting department, in a timely and accurate manner

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Multi-currency bank reconciliations
  • Reconciliation of Sales Control Accounts (Barclaycard, AMEX, PayPal) 
  • Responsible for all AP functions; checking and processing invoices, ensuring invoices are approved for payment, liaising with all suppliers, dealing with supplier queries, supplier statement reconciliation
  • Responsible for all AR functions; processing of Wholesale invoices from source system to accounting system, chasing and allocating payments, sending regular customer statements, main point of contact for customer queries
  • Reviewing and processing all staff expense claims in multi currencies
  • Reviewing and processing company credit card expenses, ensuring of business nature and receipts submitted for all expenses
  • Preparation of weekly payment run
  • Managing Petty Cash
  • Posting all Sales and COGS
  • Posting of POs from source system to accounting system and regular follow up of
  • Open POs with Production Manager 
  • Assist with the preparation of month end; accruals & prepayments, depreciation, stock write-offs
  • Preparation and submission of Quarterly VAT returns
  • Preparation of monthly agent sales commission report
  • Investigate and follow up any chargeback received
  • Filing
  • Other adhoc recs and admin as required by the FM, to support the needs of business

 Performance Indicators:

  • Delivery of personal objectives 
  • Positive colleague feedback
  • Clean Debtors and Creditors Ledger
  • Timely and accurate completion of month end procedures 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • PQ/QBE Accountant, preferably with retail experience
  • Excellent communication skills, written & spoken English
  • Ability to work to deadlines and be flexible with changing business needs within a fast paced environment
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible ‘hands on’ approach and ability to multi-task
  • High levels of personal motivation, a self starter, a positive attitude and ability to take responsibility
  • Good analytical, reconciliation and problem solving skills
  • Punctual, polite and a team player
  • Ability to think outside of the box – natural problem solver and not afraid to propose a different approach.
  • Strong IT skills - Excel, Word, Xero
